The Two Faces of Senator Blumenthal on 5G Safety

When Faced as a Defendant (2022 Filing):

  • Senator Blumenthal filed to remove a federal lawsuit concerning 5G safety risks to federal court in Connecticut;

  • In his filing, Blumenthal characterized the lawsuit's concerns as 'conspiracy theories';

  • Plaintiff’s lawsuit relied on thousands of peer-reviewed studies and declassified Department of Defense reports — the same types of evidence Senator Blumenthal demands from the FCC;

  • Rather than address the substance, Senator Blumenthal attempted procedural dismissal by painting credible research-based concerns as speculative.

On Video (December 3, 2018):

  • "The health hazards are unknown and unstudied."

  • "That is a sign of neglect and disregard on the part of the Federal Communications Commission."

  • "We need to know whether the radio frequencies can cause cancer and other diseases."

  • "We are not talking about aesthetics. We are talking about health and safety."

  • "I will continue to ask for answers. There have been no answers so far."

  • "The FCC basically has said everything's fine — but we need facts, we need evidence."

  • "The American people deserve more from the FCC than they are getting right now."

  • "Hundreds of thousands of transmitters will be necessary at a minimum across the country."

  • "The danger is the danger that we don't know."

  • "I know of no reliable studies, classified or otherwise, that have been done about 5G technology."

  • "At what cost is the question."

  • "All I am asking from the FCC is: do your job. Study the health hazards. Reassure us."

  • "Younger children are more susceptible to radio frequencies."

  • "We may need even more macro towers to support the dense small cell networks."

  • "The FCC must show us the data, show us the studies, reveal the review process."

  • "The stakes are very high. We must get this right."
